Dread Minefield

Today I navigated the dread minefield, much like any other day in my recent memory. I tightroped and side-stepped my way around self-destruction and apathy, but this day my step wasn’t quite light enough, careful enough, or considered enough, and I fell into the pit. I don’t quite know how long I was down there, but I do remember the things that brought me back. A soft kiss, a bowl of soup made with friends, the small creatures who depend on me, the changing leaves of autumn, a random call from my mother. These things and so many more.
